‘Habagat’ rains after Typhoon Butchoy damage sections of two major roads, while landslides hit Kennon Road

MANILA, Philippines – Non-stop rains induced by the southwest monsoon just after Typhoon Butchoy brought damaged certain sections of major roads in Benguet and in Mountain Province, rendering them impassable.

The Department of Public Works and Highways’ Bureau of Maintenance reported on Monday, July 11, that the following were damaged:

  • Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road, K0275+209, in Benguet. Flash flood washed out the detour road.
  • Junction Talubin-Barlig-Natonin-Paracelis-Calaccad Road, K0386+900 Talubin-Chatol Section, in Mountain Province. Road slip has been reported.

The DPWH is constructing a detour bridge at the damaged section of the road in Benguet. In Mountain Province, a temporary bailey bridge is being installed.

Meanwhile, landslides have covered parts of Kennon, although the road is still passable. Continuous rains have softened the mountainside, where a construction is also ongoing. Rappler.com
