October 26 regular holiday for Eid ul-Adha
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - October 26, a Friday, has been declared a regular holiday nationwide in observance of the Eid ul-Adha (or Eid'l Adha/ Eidul Adha).
Proclamation No. 488 sets the Eid'l Adha date for the year.
According to Proclamation No. 295, which sets the holidays for 2012, the Eid ul-Adha holiday shall be determined based on the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations.
The date was recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).
The proclamation was signed Tuesday, October 9, by President Aquino. It was released Wednesday, October 10.
The week after, November 1 and 2 (All Saints Day and All Souls Day, respectively) are special non-working days, also according to Proclamation No. 295. They fall on Thursday and Friday, respectively. - Rappler.com
