MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte approved the re-appointment of Gamaliel Cordoba as Commissioner of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

Cordoba’s reappointment was announced by Malacañang on Thursday, July 14.

He has served as NTC commissioner since then president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo appointed him to the position in 2009.

Cordoba, a lawyer, is a member of the Fraternal Order of Utopia, the fraternity of former first gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, at the Ateneo Law School.

Prior to his appointment to the NTC during the Arroyo administration, he worked as an undersecretary in the office of the presidential adviser on political affairs in the Office of the President. He also served as a board member of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

Cordoba also used to work for the Siguion Reyna, Montecillo and Ongsiako Law Offices and auditing giant SGV & Co. – Rappler.com
