Cagayan town vice mayor killed
CAGAYAN, Philippines – Unidentified gunmen killed Pamplona town Vice Mayor Aaron Sampaga in Cagayan province late Friday night, August 5.
Sampaga was proclaimed dead on arrival at the Far North General Hospital in Luna, Apayao.
In a phone interview, Police Senior Inspector Francis Pattad, Pamplona police chief, said Sampaga was attacked by two gunmen at around 11:20 pm on Friday.
Pattad said Sampaga was having drinks outside the house of a certain Rodolfo De Guzman in Masi village when the gunmen attacked them.
De Guzman was shot in the leg.
Police have yet to identify the motive behind the fatal attack on Sampaga.
Sampaga was 3-term Pamplona mayor before his sister Arnie Angelica Sampaga was elected mayor in the last May elections. – Rappler.com
