MANILA, Philippines – If you’re single and looking, where can you best find the perfect Valentine?

For young professional females, the best region to find a single male within the same age range is Region IV-B, based on the “Sexy Statistics” posted by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) in time for Valentine’s Day, February 14.

In particular, Filipino females aged 20 to 29 have the best chances of finding a single male of the same age in Region IV-B. Likewise, those aged 30-39 can best find a match in this region.

Meanwhile, young professional males can best find single females within the same age range in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

For Filipino males aged 20-29, a Valentine of around the same age is likely to be found in NCR. Those aged 30-39 have the best chances of finding their match in ARMM.

The NSCB also gives statistical probabilities for other age ranges.

“Of course, finding love is not just about computing probabilities and knowing your competitors. Looking for a partner is an exploration of one’s values and learning to extend love infinitely,” the NSCB said.

Insights from data

Valentine’s Day aside, the newly repackaged NSCB data can provide insights on the proportion of males and females in the Philippines. Such information can be useful in labor, business, and marketing, among other things.

Based on these data, Region IV-B – which is composed of the southern Luzon localities of Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, and Romblon – has the highest proportion of young professional males compared to females.
