MANILA, Philippines – Cotabato City Mayor Japal J. Guiani Jr died early Thursday, September 22, hours after he was rushed to a hospital in Davao City.
The City Government of Cotabato City made the announcement in a post in its official Facebook page Thursday morning.
“It is with deepest sadness that we inform our fellow Cotabateños that our beloved Mayor Japal J. Guiani Jr has passed away this morning,” the city government said.
“He was hospitalised in Davao City and early this morning, he experienced cardiac arrest,” it added.
The city government said Guiani, 56, will be laid to rest in Cotabato City at 3 pm on Thursday.
Guiani was reelected as mayor in the last elections. – Rappler.com
