Duterte wants car thief dead, alive or beheaded

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – If you capture him alive, you get P2 million. If you capture him dead, that’s another P2 million. You can have another million on top of that if you can show his head “preserved in ice.”

With this offer, the “Punisher” strikes again.

In his campaign to end car theft in the city, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on October 25 offered a total of P5-M for the head of suspected car syndicate leader Ryan “Baktin” Yu.
 
Duterte, who is running for mayor in the 2013 elections to replace his daughter Sara, said he will get the reward money from his campaign funds.

The city has been having problems with car theft recently. On Monday, October 22, police searched a warehouse believed to be owned by Yu and confiscated at least 14 stolen cars from the area.

Duterte has been known for his hardline tactics against criminals in the city, earning him loyal admirers and staunch critics. Human rights groups in the past have accused him of hiring gunmen to kill suspected drug dealers.
 
Facing the media October 25, Duterte warned Yu never to try entering Davao City again. He faces dire consequences, Duterte said.

He claimed that Yu enjoys the support of authorities from the Bureau of Customs and the Land Transportation Office. – Rappler.com
