BEIJING, China – President Rodrigo Duterte got to experience the sights and sounds of a Beijing street, outside of the security and comfort of a car, as he walked to a Chinese restaurant on his second day in China.
On Wednesday, October 19, Duterte walked through Wangfujing Street to a Peking duck restaurant called Dadong Roast Duck Restaurant where he had lunch.
He was accompanied by a large entourage that included Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Chinese and Filipino security detail.
Wearing a dark green jacket to guard against the cold, Duterte walked through a busy intersection in a Beijing shopping area.
At the restaurant, Duterte had lunch with leaders of the Friends of the Philippines Foundation. Members of the group showed Duterte a blueprint of a Drug Addiction Treatment Center they are planning to donate to the Philippines.
After the lunch, Duterte took a car back to his hotel.
