MANILA, Philippines – A commissioner of the Philippine Regulatory Commission was charged with bribery on Thursday, December 6, after he allegedly demanded for commissions worth P394,000 from a businessman.

PRC commissioner Alfredo Po was caught in an entrapment operation by the National Bureau of Investigation on December 5, where marked money was given to him in his office.

Complainant Ernesto delos Reyes said that Po had asked for a monthly “commission” of P42,800 for the lease of De los Reyes’ CTTL building in Baguio City.

Po reportedly received P126,000 from De los Reyes but asked for P394,000 more.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said they will also investigate Po on allegations he’s been leaking board examination questions to students. Po chairs the Philippine Board of Mechanical Engineers.

Po waived his right to a preliminary investigation. The case is now submitted for resolution by the DOJ. – Rappler.com
