Police rule out robbery in killing of Grade 12 boy from Baguio
Vaughn Carl Dicang was last seen on September 1. His body was found several days later at a creek near the Baguio Circumferential Road in Bakakeng Norte.

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – After ruling out extrajudicial killing, police are now also ruling out robbery in the death of 17-year-old Vaughn Carl Dicang, the Grade 12 boy who went missing and whose body was found in a creek later on September 7.

On September 8, police found Dicang’s black Samsung tablet with a SIM card and micro SD card inserted in the device. They also found a double bladed knife with a yellow handle.

Dicang was last seen on September 1, supposedly after watching the final episode of the TV show Game of Thrones, which he was avidly following. He was carrying a bag, which supposedly included his tablet.

Despite flyers posted all over the city, his body was found only when his relatives contacted a spiritualist, who conducted a buyon or divination. The buyon led them to Dicang’s body at a creek near the Baguio Circumferential Road in Bakakeng Norte. The body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.

Scene of the crime operatives, led by Police Chief Inspector Chester Nitron, processed the cadaver, but found no signs of visible injuries.

Dicang was a consistent honor student and leader at the Baguio City High School and the University of Baguio Science High School, where he was in Grade 12.

He will be buried on Wednesday, September 13. – Rappler.com
