MARAWI CITY, Philippines – Three more hostages of the Maute terror group in Marawi City were rescued, the military announced on Monday, September 25.

The 3 former hostages were presented by Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, chief of the Western Mindanao Command.

They were rescued last week but were only presented on Monday.

The hostages were identified as:

  • Hadji Abdullah Nixon Rakiin Baunto
  • Kiram Datu Dakula Ampatua
  • Abdulnasser Ergas Mangondaya

A fourth former hostage, Lordvin Nobleza Acopio, was also presented to the media. Acopio was rescued along with Fr Chito Soganub.

The miltary aims to end the war within the month and go full-scale on rehabilitation work by October.

Earlier, Galvez visited Marawi evacuees taking temporary shelter in neighboring Saguiran town.

He apologized to the evacuees for the delay in the operations, and told them the war could be over in the next few days. – Rappler.com
