Popular tourist spot in Batanes gets road upgrade
The P34.89-million project gives tourists easier access to the famed Vayang Rolling Hills, and helps improve travel for locals

CAGAYAN, Philippines – The Department of Public Works and Highways ( DPWH) has completed the upgrade of a road leading to the famed Vayang Rolling Hills in Batanes

The DPWH-Batanes District Engineering Office (DPWH-BDEO) said the P34.89-million project gave tourists easier access to the famed destination, and also helped improve travel for locals.

“The Vayang Rolling Hills is one of the most recognizable tourist destinations here in the province. This road upgrading project will ensure faster and smoother traveling experience for the public,” said DPWH Batanes Engineer Rommel Fabi.

“This will also help reduce dust pollution and ensure immediate delivery of basic services to the residents living near the area,” Fabi added.

The construction of the project,  funded under the 2016 General Appropriations Act, began in March 2016.

The Vayang Rolling Hills is one of the famous landmarks in the province of Batanes, offering a view of a seemingly endless wave of hills.

The tourist spot also offers a spectacular view of the West Philippine Sea (South Chin Sea). – Rappler.com
