DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Weeks after Typhoon Pablo devastated the town of Compostela, residents are again wading in floodwaters on Saturday, December 22.
Residents of Barangay Osmeña seek dry grounds along the national highway as their makeshift houses were submerged in knee-deep flooding.
“We have heard in the news that there is a lower pressure area. They said this would turn into a typhoon,” a resident said.

Similar cases of flooding were also reported in New Bataan in Compostela Valley and in the towns of Cateel and Baganga in Davao Oriental.
Landslides and flashfloods along the Cateel-Compostela highway made the road only accessible through 4×4 trucks. The road is one of the shortest routes from Davao City to Cateel.
Because of the heavily damaged roads, relief workers have to endure the 7-8 hours ride from Davao City through Agusan del Sur.
