MANILA, Philippines – Five fishermen were abducted at sea off Pangutaran town in Sulu on Saturday evening, October 14.

In a statement on Sunday, October 15, Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu (JTF Sulu), said the fishermen were kidnapped around 8:15 pm on Saturday.

Sobejana identified the victims as:

  • Jushua Ybañes, 23, single
  • Emo Fausto, 63, married
  • Junald Minalang, 24, single
  • Spriano Sardido, 53, married

Arquino is from Davao City, while the rest are from Pagadian City.

The victims were aboard FB Danvil 8 owned by Danvil Yantoc. Yantoc said his vessels, FB Danvil 8 and FB Danvil 2, along with 9 lightboats, had taken shelter when the abduction happened.

The kidnappers were aboard two motorized boats painted white and blue.
