Police Officer 1 Kevin Pierre Apostol is arrested with two others during an anti-illegal drugs operation conducted by members of the Mabalacat City Police in Barangay Dau

PAMPANGA, Philippines – A policeman assigned at the Arayat Municipal Police Station was arrested in an anti-drug-buy-bust operation here on Friday afternoon, May 11.

Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, director of the Police Regional Office 3 based in Camp Olivas in this province, identified the arrested cop as Police Officer 1 Kevin Pierre Apostol, 29.

Apostol, an active member of the Philippine National Police, was arrested along with two men, identified as Angel Pabilonia, 39; and Donato Felipe, 22, during an anti-illegal drugs operation conducted by members of the Mabalacat City Police in Barangay Dau.

An undercover cop who posed as a drug user was able to buy shabu worth P500 from the suspect in Pineda Subdivision.

Upon handing over the plastic sachet of illegal drugs to the undercover cop, the suspects were placed under arrest.

Authorities seized 9 sachets of suspected shabu with street value of P5,000, the marked money used in the sting operation, and Apostol’s Glock 17 Generation 4 firearm, two magazines loaded with 18 live bullets, a black face mask, and a white ball cap.

The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The arrested policeman is also facing charges for violation of the election gun ban under the Omnibus Election Code.

Corpus said in a statement to the media that Apostol also faces service dismissal procedure.

He said the PNP is bent on ridding “bad eggs in the police force.”

“Filing of charges, disciplining and dismissing erring police personnel is a clear manifestation of our keen determination to remove misfits among the rank of our organization,” he added.

The incident happened two days after the officer-in-charge of the Land Transportation Office Tarlac District Office was arrested for alleged illegal drug possession. – Rappler.com
