MANILA, Philippines – The Senate and the House of Representatives passed on 3rd and final reading the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) after marathon hearings this week.
The next step is for the two chambers to reconcile conflicting provisions in the bills they separately approved.
The members of the bicameral conference committee include the biggest supporters and the worst critics of the proposed measure. They will finalize the proposed law aimed at implementing a peace agreement with the dominant Muslim rebel group Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
