Duterte-Carpio made the remark in her speech at the groundbreaking of the Davao Oriental capitol building on Friday, June 8, saying she would spend her own money for the trips.

“Sa sunod, mogasto na ko’g akong kaugalingon nakong kwarta arong lang mapanigurado nga wala napuy mahalokan dinha (Next time, I will join the President’s trips and will spend my own money – just to make sure that the kissing incident will not happen again,” she said.

The mayor said that when she heard about the kissing incident, as well as the online exchange  between Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson and actress Kris Aquino, she thought of asking the Presidential Management Staff (PMS) to inform her of Duterte’s foreign trips ahead of time so that she could prepare.

“Pagkadungog nako nga ing-ato napud iyang gibuhat sa Korea, nakahuna-huna na gyud ko nga magpadala og sulat dinha sa Office of the President, sa Presidential Management Staff. Can you please, please lang send me an invitation every time nga naa moy ing-ana nga mga events so as to make sure nga dili mag-away si Kris Aquino ug si Mocha Uson tungod kay PRD,” she said.
