MANILA, Philippines – A Russian navy contingent docked on the South Harbor in Manila on Saturday, June 9, for a 5-day goodwill visit to the Philippines.
The Philippine Navy received the Russian Navy Large Anti-Submarine Ships Admiral Tributs and Admiral Vinogradov, as well as the Large Sea Tanker Pechenga on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
This is the first visit of the Russian navy to the Philippines for 2018. The Russian and Philippine navies will hold goodwill games and a series of confidence-building activities.
Civilians will also be allowed to tour the ship.
“The visit aims to strengthen the relationship between the two navies. It will further enhance and sustain the promotion of peace, stability, and maritime cooperation of the two countries through naval diplomacy and camaraderie,” the Philippine Navy said.
