Magnitude 5.1 quake hits Davao Oriental
DAVAO CITY, Philippines - A magnitude 5.1 earthquake jolted the typhoon-battered province of Davao Oriental on Sunday morning, January 27, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Phivolcs posted that the quake struck 202 kilometers Southeast of Mati City at around 1:31 in the morning.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, has a depth of 112 kilometers.
Intensity 2 was felt in the town of Manay in Davao Oriental, Phivolcs reported.
No damage were reported but aftershocks are expected.
On Saturday, January 26, a milder magnitude 2.4 earthquake was recorded 149 kilometers Southeast of Governor Generoso town in the same province at around 9:39 in the evening.
Another magnitude 3.9 earthquake was also reported 74 kilometers Southeast of Tarragona in the same province on Friday morning, January 25. - Rappler.com
