'Greyhound' operations before sunrise inside the Manila City Jail yields drug paraphernalia, assorted weapons

MANILA, Philippines – Law enforcers conducted a surprise raid early Wednesday morning, June 20, at the overcrowded Manila City Jail and recovered numerous drug paraphernalia, including cash and an assortment of deadly weapons.

Policemen from the Manila Police District, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology personnel, and agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the lightning inspection dubbed Oplan Greyhound before the break of dawn.

Among the illegal items recovered were drug paraphernalia used for shabu (methampethamine), improvised bladed weapons, electronic and electrical tools that were found inside makeshift dormitories.

Authorities have been conducting “Greyhound” operations in jails all over the country to uncover illegal contrabands.
