(UPDATED) Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque says the Chinese plane landed in Davao City, hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte, for a 'refueling stop'

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Malacañang confirmed that a Chinese plane landed again in Davao City, hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte, for a “refueling stop” this weekend.

“All licenses, permits, and protocols issued and observed,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

This was also the case with the Chinese government plane that landed also in Davao City on June 8.

Quoted by ABS-CBN News, Tactical Operations Group 11 of the Philippine Air Force said the Chinese plane landed in Davao City on Saturday, June 23.

The Chinese plane “landed at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport at 12:18 pm and left at 12:59 pm” on Saturday, ABS-CBN News reported, quoting the Philippine Air Force.

In a report by the Philippine News Agency, Special Assistant to the President Bong Go also said the Chinese plane spotted on Saturday “was received and processed by relevant Philippine agencies,” and was in Davao City “for refueling.”

Go said he cannot confirm if this was the same Chinese plane that landed in the Philippines on June 8.

Opposition senator Antonio Trillanes IV earlier said it was a “lie” to say a Chinese plane landed on June 8 only for refueling.

“The fact that it’s a cargo plane, most probably they unloaded some precious cargo. We’re trying to verify on the ground what was unloaded,” Trillanes said.

Senator Panfilo Lacson also questioned the earlier landing of a Chinese plane in Davao City. “We might all wake up a colony again, this time by China,” Lacson said. – Rappler.com
