Sara Duterte’s party to back Dela Rosa, Bong Go, JV Ejercito in 2019
DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The regional party formed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will endorse 3 known allies of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, if they decide to gun for the Senate next year.
“HNP endorses General Dela Rosa if he wants to run, Bong Go if he wants to run, and JV Ejercito if he wants to run,” Duterte-Carpio told reporters at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao on Saturday afternoon, June 30.
HNP stands for Hugpong ng Pagbabago which translates to "faction of change," political party launched in February this year, led by Duterte-Carpio. Except for Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas, all other Davao governors are in the team.
The party was formed to support the President's agenda, Duterte-Carpio said in a previous statement. (READ: Two years of Duterte: Broken and fulfilled promises)
Duterte-Carpio was asked on Saturday whether she had made up her mind on seeking a national post next year, after a group of Filipino-Chinese businessmen that day said they would support her if she ran for senator.
She said she has “no definite plan yet.” The mayor earlier said she would keep her plans secret till the last minute to "annoy" detractors.
Surveys conducted by the Social Weather Stations and Pulse Asia Research, Incorporated on potential senatorial aspirants showed ranked Duterte-Carpio in the winners' circle if elections were held during the survey period. – Rappler.com
