The Philippines’ richest clashed last Friday during a heated debate at a forum discussed on twitter under #WhyMining. Manuel V. Pangilinan, who heads the country’s largest gold producer, Philex, presented why and how mining can bring sustainable development to the country. Gina Lopez, a convenor of anti-mining group Save Palawan Movement, challenged Pangilinan, who showed a rare public display of emotion. On Sunday, Lopez sent her response to Rappler.
