21-year-old nabbed for stealing can of Spam worth P199
(UPDATED) The police report says the 7-Eleven convenience store clerk monitoring their CCTV saw the suspect hiding the can of luncheon meat

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – A 21-year-old man was arrested for stealing a can of Spam luncheon meat, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Monday, December 10.

Police arrested Junard Dula after he pretended to be a customer and stole a can of Spam in a 7-Eleven convenience store in Mandala Park, Pleasant Hills, Mandaluyong City.

“[He] took one piece Spam luncheon meat worth P199 from display rack and concealed inside of his short pants and left the said store without paying at the cashier,” the police spot report read.

The store clerk, however, noticed Dula through their CCTV monitoring system.

The clerk called for the help of the security guard, who immediately accosted Dula and presented him to the cops.

Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran, Mandaluyong police chief, said: “Hinuli siya nung guard after magnakaw ng isang lata ng Spam luncheon meat sa 7-Eleven. Pangkain lang daw niya ito,” he said. (The guard caught him after he took the can of Spam at the 7-Eleven. He said he was hungry.)

Dula is now held at the Mandaluyong City police headquarters’ detention cell.  He is now set for inquest as of posting time.  – Rappler.com
