MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – San Fernando, Cebu Mayor Lakambini Reluya was ambushed inside her van by still unidentified gunmen while she was traveling across Talisay City on Tuesday, January 22.

The attack led to the death on the spot of 3 of Reluya’s companions who were aboard the van, including her husband, Barangay Chairman Ricardo Reluya Jr.

The two other fatalities were identified as Allan Bayot and Ricky Monterona.

Reluya’s party of 6 was riding a Toyota Hi-Ace van headed towards Cebu City when at around 9:30 pm in Barangay Linao unidentified gunmen aboard a “white four-wheeled vehicle” shot at them repeatedly.

Police said Mayor Reluya and two other survivors suffered minor injuries and have been brought to the Talisay District Hospital for treatment. – Rappler.com
