MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – At least 18 people were injured in an explosion that hit a restaurant in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, past 3 pm on Wednesday, April 3.

Soccsksargen police regional director Brigadier General Eliseo Rasco told Rappler that the explosion occurred inside Carlitos Chicken along the National Highway in Barangay Kalawag 2.

The local government of Isulan said the injured were brought to the following hospitals:

• Holy Nazarene Clinic and Hospital – 10
• Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital – 5
• Isulan Doctors Specialist Center – 1
• St Louis Hospital – 1
• Galinato Family Clinic and Hospital – 1

Among the injured are 6 minors and a pregnant woman.

Police, who are currently inspecting the scene, believe the blast came from an improvised explosive device. Rasco added that they still have no suspects in mind as of posting time.

The restaurant blast is the 3rd bombing in the Sultan Kudarat capital in the past 8 months. On August 28, 2018, a bomb went off near the town proper during a festival, killing 3 and injuring 36. Days later on September 2, 2 were killed and 12 were injured after another blast occurred in the town proper. – Rappler.com
