MANILA, Philippines – Following the assault on Lahad Datu, Sabah, Malaysian security forces stationed on the east coast of Sabah are now on high security alert.

According to The Star in Malaysia, Semporna district police chief Deputy Supt. Firdaus Francis Abdullah said the police “were all on standby together with other security agencies.”

Abdullah added, “We have yet to receive any emergency order from the higher authorities.” He added that precautions were necessary and that people should remain calm.

Police in Lahad Datu have advised residents to stay indoors during the interim and to not believe rumors. – Rappler.com
