But the Filipino pilot and the Saudi Arabian student pilot remain missing

MANILA, Philippines – The wreckage of a trainer aircraft reported missing on Friday, May 17, was found on Monday morning, May 20, some 43 kilometers south of the Mindoro Strait.

Search and rescue teams found 6 pieces of debris from the aircraft, along with a bag carrying identification of the pilot in command, Captain Jose Nelson Yapparcon.

But Yapparcon and student pilot Abdullah Alsharif, a Saudi Arabian, remain missing.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the aircraft – a Beechcraft Baron 55 – went missing after taking off on Friday morning from San Jose Airport in Occidental Mindoro.

Investigators from CAAP’s Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board were sent to the crash site. Their probe continues. – Rappler.com
