(UPDATED) A firetruck smashes a jeepney going downhill in Tagbilaran City

CEBU CITY, Philippines (UPDATED) – At least two people died in an accident in Tagbilaran City in Bohol after a jeep carrying over 20 passengers fell off a cliff and into the water on Thursday, June 6, late afternoon. 

According to Telephone and Radio System Integration Emergency Response (Tarsier 117) head Meinard Butalid, at least 2 are confirmed dead while 27 others were injured.

The jeep came from Loboc town and was going downhill when it was hit by a firetruck.  Also involved in the accident was a sedan vehicle.

Because of the firetruck’s impact, the jeep flipped over and as it fell into the water.

Police were still investigating the crash. Tarsier 117 says the victims were brought to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital – Rappler.com
