MANILA, Philippines – Oriental Mindoro provincial prosecutor Josephine Olivar was ambushed at her home on Monday, June 10.
A police report said Olivar “was shot by still unidentified perpetrator/s” as she was entering her home in Barangay Bayanan 1, Calapan City.
Olivar was immediately rushed to the MMG Hospital for treatment as the suspect fled from the scene.
In a statement, Department of Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete said Olivar sustained 5 gunshot wounds – 2 hitting her in the head and 3 in her body.
The gunshots to her head have prompted doctors to conduct a computed tomography (CT), Perete added.
“The Department calls on our law enforcement authorities to investigate this incident that those responsible may be held to account before the law,” Perete said. – Rappler.com
