MANILA, Philippines – Two Muntinlupa courts handling the drug cases of opposition Senator Leila de Lima have granted her request for a furlough to attend her son’s thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, June 14.

“We’d like to thank the Judge for granting our application for furlough to allow Senator De Lima to attend the thanksgiving dinner of his son who just passed the Bar,” said De Lima’s lawyer Boni Tacardon after the senator’s hearing on Friday, June 14.

Tacardon said Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) judges Liezel Acquiatan and Amelia Fabros-Corpuz allowed De Lima to temporarily leave Camp Crame to go to Club Filipino on Sunday afternoon.

De Lima’s son Vincent Joshua Bohol passed the 2018 Bar Examinations and took his oath as a lawyer on Thursday, June 13.

Vincent graduated law from San Beda College Alabang in June 2018, but De Lima was not allowed by the court then to attend her son’s graduation rites.

“Senator De Lima is very happy to know that she will be allowed to attend the thanksgiving dinner,” Tacardon said.

“It’s limited time…but more than sufficient time,” he added.

Vincent was among the 1,800 passers of the 2018 Bar. He follows in the footsteps of both his mother and father Plaridel Bohol. – Rappler.com
