Residents of Valladolid town in Negros Occidental say the sea turtle excreted plastics
NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines – A sea turtle was found dead in Barangay Poblacion in Valladolid town here on Tuesday, June 25.
Valladolid resident Arnel Emplamado found the turtle on Tuesday afternoon as he walked along the shoreline, and contacted authorities to report it.
Police Captain Joseth Catonina, town police chief, said the turtle might have ingested plastic which could have caused its death.
He based this on the report of residents that the animal excreted plastics.
The reptile measured two feet in width and 3 feet in length. Its carapace and its tail looked damaged.
Residents and barangay officials led by village chief Bill Kratzer buried the turtle in the area. – Rappler.com
