Liposuction doctors in Makati face criminal charges after businesswoman dies
Nory Bobadilla, 43, of Negros Occidental stopped breathing during the operation at Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting in Makati City

MANILA, Philippines – The family of the businesswoman who died while she was undergoing liposuction in a Makati clinic will file charges against the doctors who performed the operation, a police official said.

Major Gideon Ines, Makati police investigation unit chief, said the family of 43-year-old Nory Bobadilla will file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the doctors at Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting.

“We are still preparing all the necessary documents needed for the filing of the case,” Ines said.

Preliminary police findings showed the victim stopped breathing while she was undergoing liposuction at the clinic, located at the second floor of South Park Plaza in Paseo de Magallanes on July 3.

Ines said attending doctor Claudine Roura and anaesthesiologist Katrina Bulseco tried to revive Bobadilla, but were unable to.

They rushed Bobadilla to the Parañaque Doctor’s Hospital, where the victim was revived, but went into a coma. Ines said the victim died at the hospital’s intensive care unit on July 6.

“We learned that she flew from Negros Occidental to undergo liposuction here in Makati,” the investigation unit chief said.

The victim left behind 5 children. Rappler.com
