MANILA, Philippines – A Marikina policeman killed a construction worker with a gunshot to his head in a scuffle over the weekend.

In a police report released only on Monday, October 7, Marikina Police said the victim, Kim Ramos, 23, tried to take the gun of Corporal Herjonner Soller of their Intelligence Unit during a confrontation. 

On Saturday, October 5, cops reportedly approached Ramos and 4 companions in a dimly-lit part of Holy Street in Barangay Sta Elena, to ask what they were doing there. When officer Soller left the place aboard his motorcycle, the 5 ment reportedly board their own motorcycles and chased him. 

When Soller fell to the ground, the men allegedly tried to take the policeman’s gun. The weapon went off and hit one of the men – a certain Lauro Lagaote, 22 – in the stomach.

Soller claimed Ramos drew his own gun, prompting him (Soller) to shoot him in the head, killing him on the spot. 

According to the spot report, Ramos’ gun was a .38 caliber pistol.

Lagaote is still at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City. – Rappler.com
