Hundreds of Bin Laden’s documents show the Al Qaeda leader was keenly aware that the group was “beleaguered”. Bin Laden’s deputies abandoned phones and the internet for all internal communication, and instead switched to letters. Bin Laden had to wait for up to two to three months to get answers from the field.
