IED explodes near Rio Tuba airstrip
MANILA, Philippines - An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near the private airstrip of Rio Tuba Nickel Corporation in Palawan last Tuesday, April 30.
The explosion occurred at around 11pm, Provincial Police Supt. Atanacio Macalan said in a radio interview.
Initial investigation showed the device had ammonium nitrate, which is also used for illegal fishing.
No suspect has been identified yet, and police say the incident could be related to the upcoming elections.
