13 dead as jeep falls off ravine in Benguet
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Thirteen people were killed and 7 others were injured in a road accident in Buguias town in Benguet province on Saturday afternoon, June 8, police authorities said.
The accident happened at around 2:30pm in Bgy Bayoyo, Buguias, the Office of Civil Defense in Cordillera reported. According to Dr Manuel Dupiano, a resident of Bgy Abatan, the area was very foggy at the time of the accident.
Police report showed a public utility jeep with plate number AAD 374 was heading toward Bgy Abatan from Bgy Natubleng – both in Buguias - when it suddenly fell off an 80-meter ravine.
The victims were supporters of the mayor of the town of Buguias, Melchor Diclas, and were being ferried home from a victory party he hosted after he retained his post in last month's elections, police said
The Department of Health - Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) identified 10 of the victims who died on the spot:

- Arnoldo Madiano
- Melanio Igualdo
- Kimberly Waclin
- Biano Olsin
Two others were declared dead on arrival at nearby hospitals. The toll rose to 13 after another passengers died early Sunday morning at the Baguio General Hospital.
Seven passengers were treated for injuries, said local police spokesman Vicente Lim-mong. The following are the injured passengers identified by the DOH-CHD:

Buguias Municipal Police Station officers brought the injured passengers to the Abatan and Lutheran Hospitals. – Rappler.com
