MANILA, Philippines – The Supreme Court released on Monday, July 1, the latest statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALNs) for 2012 of its 15 magistrates.

Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo, with a declared net worth of P110 million for 2012, remained the richest  since the court first released the justices’ SALNs last year (for 2011).

It’s an increase of more than P838,000 from his net worth of P109 million for 2011.

Latest appointee Marvic Leonen had the least declared net worth, with P1.6 million. 

The SALNs were released to GMA News and Solar News upon the approval of the Supreme Court en banc. 

The request made by Rappler and other media organizations for the justices’ SALN are still pending with the Supreme Court.

From 2011 to 2012, Justice Lucas Bersamin declared the biggest increase in net worth – his was up by P7.3 million, from P18.8 million in 2011 to P26.12 million in 2012.

The smallest increase in net worth was declared by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno – up by only P113,000, from P18.02 million in 2011 to P18.14 million in 2012.

Last year, for the first time in more than 20 years, the SC justices released their SALNS for 2011 to the public. The 2011 SALNs of the SC justices were released a few months after former Chief Justice Renato Corona was removed from his post for failing to disclose in his SALN P183 million in peso and dollar bank deposits
