St. Theresa’s College explains decision

Officials of St. Theresa’s College in Cebu explains it side when it prevented 5 students from joining graduation rites. Chairman of the STC Board of Trustees said, “So much more than just marching and going up stage is involved here. It is the school’s certification to the world that these students are our products. They have met all the requirements and exemplified in their lives the religious and moral values that the school stands for. If you view commencement in that light then, the school has no alternative than to refuse to certify these students.” In turning away the students on graduation day, the school defied a local court decision ordering the school to allow the girls to graduate. The girls were earlier barred from graduation after their bikini photos were posted on Facebook. Some of the students went home in tears.
