2 Marines injured in Sulu blast

MANILA, Philippines – Two Marines were injured in a roadside bombing in Patikul, Sulu, Saturday morning, July 6.

Injured were Sgt Almandres Muhajil and Corporal Antonieto Docdoc.

The military’s Western Mindanao Command said troops from the 2nd Marine Brigade of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 were on board an M35 truck with a V150 vehicle as a back-up when an improvised explosive device went off as the soldiers were in Sitio Tuwak, Barangay Bonbon.

The soldiers were on their way to Barangay Tangantangan to secure a medical mission in the area when the explosion occurred, said Col Rodrigo Gregorio, Wesmincom spokesman.

Docdoc was airlifted to the KHTB Station Hospital in Barangay Bus-bus for treatment, while Muhajil sustained only slight injuries and was treated at the Bonbon detachment. – Rappler.com
