Phivolcs head says the Philippines won't be affected by tsunami in the aftermath of a strong quake off Indonesia
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology on Wednesday, April 11, allayed fears of a tsunami in the country from an earthquake off Indonesia.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. said in media interviews that while there is a tsunami watch across the Indian Ocean, this will not affect the Philippines.
“A tsunami in these areas [across the Indian Ocean] is possible but it’s not going to affect the Philippines,” Solidum told dzBB in Filipino.
“Walang epekto itong lindol na nangyari sa Sumatra sa ating bansa,” he also said in a TV interview. – Rappler.com
