MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – At least one person is dead after a shootout at the Burgundy Corporate Tower near the corner of Gil Puyat and Chino Roces avenues in Makati City. 

The individual, whose indentity was not revealed, was declared dead on arrival at the Makati Medical Center. 

According to the Makati Public Information Office (PIO), Makati Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), Traffic Police, and Makati Rescue operatives are on site to attend to the “alleged hostage taking.”

A TV Patrol report, meanwhile, said the row stemmed from a property management dispute.

Police were intiallly unable to enter the building because the main gate was closed off by armed men. In its latest update, the Makati PIO said the group had already surrendered. 

Makati Mayor Junjun Binay himself went to the area to head the “clearing operations.”

All those involved in the incident have been brought into the custody of the Makati police.
