SUBIC, Philippines – A luxury car driven by a Belgian national collided with two tricycles, killing the tricycle drivers in an early morning accident along national highway in Barangay Sto Tomas on Wednesday, September 11.

Didier Ladriere, 56, the Belgian national behind the wheel of the red Porsche (plate number ZD 7058), was injured, according to the police report. He is a resident of 999 Cabangaan Point in Subic, Zambales.

The tricycle drivers who died on the spot were Fernando Torres, 47, of Baranagay Roosevelt in the neighboring Dinalupihan town in Bataan, and Jonathan Paguntalan, 28, of Barangay Matain in Subic.

Senior Inspector Jelson Dayupay, the Subic Municipal Police station chief, said Ladriere was driving northward at around 3 am Wednesday and overtook a tricycle. He did not notice the tricycle driven by Torres coming from the opposite direction.

The head-on collision sent Torres’ tricycle crashing into a waiting shed, while the Porsche bumped Paguntalan’s tricycle in front of it, causing it to crash into the concrete rail of a bridge.

Ladriere was treated in a nearby hospital for minor bruises. – Rappler.com
