MANILA, Philippines – He got a mouthful from Chief Justice Renato Corona on Wednesday, who accused him of setting the stage for a dictatorship. On the evening of the same day, President Benigno Aquino III decided to sing his blues away.
Reports say the President attended the Christmas party of the House of Representatives at the Batasan complex in Quezon City, where he sang “Estudyante Blues,” the same song he rendered during his victory party after his oath-taking on June 30, 2010.
The lines of “Estudyante Blues” include, “Ako ang nakikita, ako ang nasisisi, ako ang laging may kasalanan (I always get the blame, it’s always my fault).”
Media was not allowed to attend the party, but dzBB radio reported on Thursday that the President sang this song to his allies.
He was not in strange territory, after all. Aquino served as congressman of Tarlac from 1998 to 2007, and as senator from 2007 to 2010.
Corona declared war on the President on Wednesday when he lambasted Aquino for having him impeached. The chief justice will face trial at the Senate early next year. Rappler.com
