Murdochs to testify in hacking controversy



Media magnate Rupert Murdoch and his son James are appearing in court next week to testify on what they know about phone hacking done at The News of the World tabloid, which has since closed down. The British court is presently conducting an inquiry into violations of journalistic ethics. This coincides with 3 more arrests made by the police and 3 investigations into alleged phone and e-mail hacking, along with police bribery. One of those arrested was a journalist from The Sun newspaper, which is part of Murdoch’s News Corp media empire and is Britain’s best-selling daily tabloid. The News of the Worldwas shut down after public outrage over the scale of illegal eavesdropping its reporters did in their hunt for stories.
