SC, Manila, QC courts suspend work
MANILA, Philippines – Work at the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and the courts of Manila and Quezon City were suspended Monday afternoon, October 14, due to the massive medical mission of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) in the two cities.
"The Chief Justice has ordered the suspension of work for the SC and CA including the SB and CTA plus the courts of Manila and QC only, starting at 1:30 PM today," an announcement posted by the SC Public Information Office said.
The suspension was due to the INC medical mission "which has affected traffic in both cities," the announcement said.
"A skeletal force for all the courts is requested for purpose of receiving documents," the announcement added.
The activity is part of the influential religious group's countdown to its centennial next year, 2014.
The City of Manila alone expects 1.6 million people to attend Monday's event, though it is unclear if this includes non-INC members.
The group claims 15 million people have attended the different Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko events in the past months. – Rappler.com
