MANILA, Philippines – The barangay elections in Bohol will be postponed, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Monday, October 21.
Bohol suffered widespread damage from the magnitude 7.2 quake that struck the province last Tuesday, October 15. Local officials earlier asked for a postponement of the polls because of this.

The Comelec will issue an official resolution on the matter on Tuesday, October 22.
Bohol is the second area where the polls will be postponed. Elections in Zamboanga City have also been postponed, after the city saw extensive damage brought by the 3-week conflict between government troops and Muslim rebels in September.
The barangay elections will push through as scheduled Monday, October 28, in the rest of the country. – Rappler.com
