Filipino internet entrepreneurs get funding and help

Globe announces the second year of its Startup Weekend in Manila and Cebu while its competitor, Smart, joins business groups to launch IdeaSpace, a Silicon Valley-like incubator program to support and mentor Filipino technology entrepreneurs.  Novare Technologies also set aside a $2.5 million fund for its “Wireless Wings” program announced early this year.  Novare CEO Myla Villanueva said, “I want to encourage people to innovate. I want them not to be just builders. I want them to build their own companies, craft their own models and be successful.”
