3 dead in Sta Mesa fire

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – A fire along Makisig Street in Barangay Bacood, Sta Mesa, Manila left 3 dead on Saturday, November 9, the Bacood Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

Vladimir Payumo, Bacood BFP non-commissioned officer-in-charge (NCOIC), said there were 4 rescued from the fire.

The 3 dead were identified as Benilda Dionisio, 57, Lily Aguilar, 68, and Merly Aguilar, 50. They were in a private residence whose basement was used to prepare processed meat for selling.

The fire reached its fourth alarm at 2:01 am on Saturday, the Bacood fire station said. 

Project Agos, Rappler’s disaster monitoring tool, received a report that the fire was on its third alarm at 1:11 am Saturday. 

The fire was put out past 3 am, said the BFP.
