Randy David clueless on motive of attack

MANILA, Philippines – Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo said the  family of Inquirer columnist Randy David is still at a loss as to why gunmen strafed their house in UP Diliman Tuesday night, April 24.

“I talked to his (Randy David) wife (former Civil Service Commission chairperson) Karina David and they couldn’t understand why the attack happened at all since Professor David is almost semi-retired,” Robredo told reporters.

The Davids also turned down the offer of police security.

One of the police investigators who interviewed Randy David said the latter raised the possibility that he was a “mistaken target.”

A vehicle that supposedly carried the gunmen was traced to a resident of Rizal province, according to an initial police report reaching Rappler. Witnesses earlier managed to get the plate number of the vehicle, UDM 191.

Investigators were able to interview the owner of the vehicle with that plate number, who claimed that his van never left his house the entire evening Tuesday. It is likely the vehicle that was used by the gunmen was given a fake plate number, the police added. – Rappler.com
